Under the current
HR management environment, there are a number of specific tasks,
which have their own terminology to describe them. Following is a list of HR management
functions or terms:
An organisation will
often have a number of HR management policies that it tries
to adhere to in the day to day running of its business. Commonly the organisation
will typically have policies covering, occupational health & safety, equal
opportunities and employment. HR management development is the stewardship of
all people policies.
HR management is
the custodian of employment agreements which should state all company policies
and conditions of employment. Importantly, the employee should be fully aware
of their legal standings under certain conditions e.g. termination (company property,
intellectual property etc). The employment agreement should spell out quite clearly
what the parameters of working for an organisation are e.g. dress standards, policies
etc. However care must be taken to ensure that HR management
is not oppressive in this regard.
Employment
Contract
Employment contracts
differ from agreements in that they are for a pre-determined timeframe, for example
two years. HR management contracts contain similar information
to agreements, but also include strict exit clauses, to safeguard the employer.
The employee or contractor has very specific HR management tasks and duties which
can be linked to target or delivery dates.
